High Altitude Camp in High Pamirs

Summary: The country and scenery are spectacular, matched only by the friendliness of the Tajiks and Pamiri people. Our staff was competent, kind and helpful, and our guide Rahim was (in a word...) EXCELLENT. The owner of Pamir Trips, Sharaf, was always available and prompt in responding to the needs that arose on our trip. I am very grateful to have had a great adventure and all-encompassing experience in Tajikistan. Thank you so much to all of our amazing staff!

Summary: I was a lucky participant with an alpine club group out of calgary/canmore canada going on a custom trip to both the Fann mountains and high Pamirs. Sharaf the owner/manager was incredible at organizing this trip for our group and the guide Rahim and the support staff were warm and engagingly experienced at getting our group to our high points in style and good humour. What really impressed me was how the team kept spirits high with good communication, caring and compassion. With any outdoor and high altititude experiences there are always inevitable difficulties (health and road issues) that may come up and to me it was how Sharaf and his team dealt with these issues that so impressed me. They always made sure the group was well taken care of and were so ready to amend plans to accommodate our group’s needs. The mountainous area is stunning in scenery and with travel now being so popular everywhere Tajikistan will be one area where you will feel unique in your journey. Thanks again to Sharaf, Rahim and the kind support staff for making it happen!

Summary: I was the organizer of a large group from the Alpine Club of Canada that went to the Fan and Pamir mountains. We couldn't decide if we wanted to do the Fans or the Pamirs, so Sharaf made us a great proposal to do both! We were really glad that we did, as both are spectacular and yet very different. We spend a lot of time deciding which agency to use, and we are very glad that we went with Pamir Trips. Their organizational skills were great. Transportation was first class - top notch Lexus and Toyota Land Cruisers, and only 3-4 people per vehicle. Our drivers were AMAZING - safe, efficient and very professional. Accommodation was also first class - the hotels were all great, and we had two people sharing a three person tent while camping. Our guide, Rahim, couldn't have been better. He was extremely knowledgeable and very responsive to our requests. He even managed to arrange a first ascent of an easy 5000m peak while we were trekking int the Pamirs. And it was a complete treat to be supported by donkeys during the treks. Light day packs, and we got to experience a lot of the local culture through our interactions with the wranglers. Not everything was perfect - it never is - but when there were issues, the staff did a great job of dealing with it. For example, towards the end of our Pamir trek the cook ran out of coffee. The guide sent one of the wranglers to the next village to get us more coffee, and he also came back with more chocolate! We found this agency to be very experienced and capable, and would recommend them to anybody interested in trekking in the Fann or Pamir mountains.
